KWL Chart

This morning we had to start a KWL chart on Morocco. What we already KNOW, what we WANT to know, and what we have LEARNED so far. This is a picture of the beginning of my worksheet.

What questions would you like to have answered about Morocco?  About the schools? Home life? Social life? Anything else? If I can, I will get answers to as many questions as I can throughout my trip.

    2. In general, students have English or Spanish as a foreign language class, most students always have gym, art, and there are some school sports teams.

I will try to find out more when I get to the Moroccan school I am scheduled to visit.

    1. I am still browsing :).

Social Studies for them falls under the classes - Arabic studies, the history of their culture and language, and Geography. Good question!

  3. What age do you start school there. I read somewhere that you are required to be in school until only age 14, what happens to the students after that? Do they start college early or go on to another school before college?

Do the students rotate classes, like we do? That's it for now

    1. Students have to stay in school until age 15. Some go to vocational school or work after that if they do not go to college.

Students do rotate classes and have school Monday to Saturday with a 2 hr lunch.

    1. Students do have after school sports teams. I am not sure what else, if there is anything else, but I will try to find out over the next week.

Teachers can provide tutoring, but it is not scheduled in the regular school day like extended day. If teachers agree to stay late, it is simply because they want to help the students more than just in class time.

  5. OMG, why do they stay in school until Saturday. They may/may not be smarter than us. And that means they basically have ONE day of the week to themselves. And I wish we had lunch for 2 hrs because we would have more time to socialize!! :D

    1. Students stay in school until Saturday because they have such a long lunch everyday and because they do not have the same classes everyday. Students usually go home during lunch time to rest and relax.

My host teacher, Mr. El Moncef, may have a class on Thursday and not see them again until Saturday. The classes also switch times on some days - sometimes before lunch and another day the same class might be after lunch.
